One day I came across a dude named Evo Terra, and I immediately knew I had to get in touch. Why? Because how often do you meet someone with a name like Evo?

It turns out he’s a podcasting veteran who’s been part of the game for a long time, and dipped his toes in several ventures and industries along the way. A perfect fit for The Successful Mistake if you ask me, and what a fantastic insight he offers into the art of mistake-making, when to say no, and how to listen to your gut.

Don’t forget to leave a review. Reviews help us rise the charts, which leads to awesome more folk like yourself listening

IN THIS SESSION, YOU’LL LEARN:

  • Mistakes allow you to learn fast and improve often
  • Don’t be afraid to say no and turn down an offer. There’s always a new opportunity further down the road
  • As a species, people are always looking for the next ‘Big Thing
  • Try to improve your ‘Luck Surface Area‘ – Expose yourself to lots of new ideas and opportunities
  • Listening to your gut plays a large part in this, though
  • You only have so much bandwidth to work with, so if something sounds ‘too good to be true‘, listen to your gut
  • There’s noting wrong with saying yes, and there’s nothing wrong with saying no… You have to find a happy medium
  • Before jumping into bed with someone, ask yourself: 1)Do you like this person? 2)What do you think the length of this opportunity is? 3)Is the product or service something you would use yourself?
  • If the answer to all three is yes, go ahead. If one or more are a no, give yourself time to figure out the right decision
  • Your gut doesn’t have an actual brain, so give yourself time so your literal brain can figure out the answer
  • Your gut isn’t always right, and it isn’t always wrong…
  • … But it’s an opportunity to listen and take a step back – mull it over and think… don’t make a snap decision
  • As an entrepreneur, sometimes you have to do what you have to do in order to survive
  • BUT whenever you can, give yourself time to work on projects that light a fire within you
  • Don’t assume your first impression of someone is correct
  • Research them… give them a chance… our brain can be a crazy organ that makes silly snap decisions

HIS STORY BASED BIO:

Evo Terra has the kind of name you don’t forget. I remember reading it as thinking, “I bet he’s an interesting guy. Let’s chat with him.” I then realised I was speaking to myself so decided to email him and quite toying on the line of crazy.

And I’m so glad I did, because he’s a dude with lots of ventures both past and present, and a rather crazy love for craft beer and sausage. You may immediately assume he’s a hipster, but if he is then he’s one of their founder members

With a pedigree in podcasting going back to the beginning, and a hand in publishing and more, he’s a man with a ever changing plan, but a unique outlook on the world. To say he’s an interesting fellow is quite the understatement, but as interesting as his name… hmmm, maybe not quite.

Thanks for listening to today’s Session of The Purple Coffee Podcast. I’d love to hear your thoughts, so be sure to say hello via FACEBOOK or TWITTER. This is where I spend my days, and where the cool conversations happen.

I also hope this isn’t a one-time-thing, because I aren’t after a one-night stand. Be sure to follow the super simple 3-Step Process Below, or forever be haunted by the podcasting gods.
